BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

WEST DIVISION
HITTER OF THE WEEK
Brent Voorhees, DH/1B, Sr., McMurry
McMurry senior designated hitter/first baseman Brent Voorhees (Abilene, TX / Wylie HS) hit safely in all of his team’s six games that included a series win over Texas Lutheran and victories against nationally-ranked Marietta and Southwestern. On the week, Voorhees batted. 619 with five doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI. He scored 12 runs.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Josh Alcorn, RHP, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons senior right-hander Josh Alcorn (Brownwood, TX / BHS) worked five scoreless innings in relief, picking up a win and a save. In the series opener against Mary Hardin-Baylor, Alcorn entered a tie game in the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded and got his man. He then allowed just one hit over the final three innings of the extra-winning win.
EAST DIVISION
CO-HITTERS OF THE WEEK
Bruce Cameron, OF, Jr., Ozarks
Ozarks junior outfielder Bruce Cameron (Houston, TX / Episcopal HS) had the ASC’s first three-home run game this season in a 3-for-4 effort against Lyon College. Cameron added a solo homer against Texas-Dallas and batted. 636 on the week with five RBI. He also pitched seven innings to pick up the win in the finale with UTD that decided the series.
Joe Towns, 3B, Jr., Texas-Tyler
Texas-Tyler junior third baseman Joe Towns (Carrollton, TX / Newman Smith HS) hit for the cycle and had five hits in a victory against East Texas Baptist and batted .419 over six games. On the week, he had three home runs, 11 RBI and scored eight runs. He also walked twice and stole one base.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Kaminski, RHP, So., LeTourneau
LeTourneau sophomore right-hander Tyler Kaminski (Cypress, TX / Rosehill Chirstian HS) tossed a nine-inning complete game to defeat the University of Dallas. Kaminski allowed just one run to cross the plate and scattered eight hits with six strikeouts in the opener of the series that eventually went to the YellowJackets.

HITTERS: Howard Payne OF James Mays hit for the series cycle against Concordia and drive in six runs on the week. . . . Concordia Texas 2B Justin Beasley batted .571 with six RBI in a series against Howard Payne. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor 3B Andrew White batted .533 with two triples in a series win against Hardin-Simmons. . . . Texas Lutheran OF Kyle Harvey was 7-for-12 in a series against McMurry, including going 4-for-4 in the opener. . . . Mississippi College C/3B Paige Hodges hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eight to seal a 13-10 win over Louisiana College. . . . LeTourneau 1B Josh Brown batted .550 over five games, including a 4-for-4 performance. . . .
PITCHERS: Mary Hardin-Baylor RHP Jared Hopper allowed just three earned runs in a complete-game effort to beat Hardin-Simmons. . . . Mississippi College RHP Brett Hinson earned a four-inning saved and pitched nine innings of relief in a close loss. . . . Ozarks RHP Curt Dixon pitched a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts to defeat Texas-Dallas. . . . Louisiana College LHP Tyler Brooks tossed a seven-inning complete game to defeat MC. . . Texas-Tyler RHP Brett Holland went 1-0 over two appearances, striking out 12 of 35 batters.
