Oberlin, Ohio – Oberlin College Delta Lodge Director of Athletics Joe Karlgaard has named longtime assistant coach Adrian Abrahamowicz as the next Head Baseball Coach, effective July 1, 2010.

Abrahamowicz, a native of nearby Lorain, Ohio, is currently beginning his sixth season on the Oberlin baseball coaching staff and third as Associate Head Coach. He will take the reins of the program from 13-year veteran Eric Lahetta, who will move into an administrative role within the athletics department.

"Coach Abrahamowicz will be a great leader for our baseball program,” Karlgaard said. “He has a first-rate understanding of the game, respect for the academic excellence and traditions of Oberlin College, and a tremendous work ethic. Adrian has demonstrated an ability to recruit great students to Oberlin and develop their athletic and personal skills. The future of our baseball program could not be brighter."

Since joining the Yeomen staff in 2005, Abrahamowicz has served as pitching coach and has managed the offense while coaching third base. Over the last three seasons he has also served as the team’s recruiting coordinator and is largely responsible for bringing in some of the deepest classes in program history.

“I would like to thank Joe Karlgaard, President Marvin Krislov, Eric Lahetta and the search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the baseball program into the future,” Abrahamowicz said. “I feel we have done a good job of turning the program around over the last few years and believe we are ready to take the next step.”

A 1998 graduate of Tiffin University, Abrahamowicz has been involved in coaching since 1992.
