EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Former University of Texas at Tyler baseball players Chad Daleiden (Cave Creek, Ariz.) and Beau Ziegler (N. Wales, Pa.) were signed to professional contracts by the Evansville Otters of the Frontier Independent Baseball League on Monday.

Daleiden and Ziegler are the 16th and 17th former Patriots to sign contracts to play baseball professionally.

Both Daleiden, an infielder, and Ziegler, a relief pitcher, were First-Team All-American Southwest Conference selections during the 2009 season and played integral roles in the Patriots ASC Championship and NCAA regional appearance.

Daleiden batted .364 on the year with 72 hits, 55 runs, 58 RBIs and 13 homeruns, while Ziegler went 5-1 with six saves and 55 strikeouts over 34.1 innings of work.

The two former Patriots will make their debuts as Otters on Tuesday night in Evansville against the Kalamazoo Kings.
