University of Dallas has named former UD baseball player and alum Fraser Holmes as the new Head Baseball Coach. Coach Holmes will begin his new role at UD on September 2.
Coach Holmes joins the University full-time following a year of playing independent professional baseball with the American Association’s Grand Prairie AirHogs and Sioux Falls Canaries. Prior to playing with the AirHogs and Canaries, he served as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2009 UD Crusader baseball team.
While an undergraduate at University of Dallas, he was the starting catcher for the University from 2005 to 2008 where he won three letters, was named to the 2006 and 2007 United States Collegiate Athletic Association first team, the 2008 Association of Division III Independents first team, and the 2007 United States Collegiate Athletic Association Academic All-American team.
Holmes graduated with a degree in philosophy and currently lives in Irving, Texas, with his wife Sydney. He becomes the fifteenth baseball coach in 50 years of collegiate baseball at UD and replaces Chris Strockbine who resigned after four winning seasons and a record of 86-64-2.
