Texas-Tyler's Sherman Takes ASC Pitching Honor for Third Time

RICHARDSON -- UT Tyler starting ace Chad Sherman earned his third American Southwest Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after leading the Patriots to a 4-2 victory in the pivotal series opener against Louisiana College last week.

The senior right-hander recorded an ASC season-high 13 strikeouts over eight innings of work.

Sherman, a Bullard, Texas, native, did not allow an earned run and scattered seven hits in the win. He walked only one batter while improving to 8-0 on the season.

Sherman holds down a 0.89 ERA and has a conference-high 81 strikeouts. He also leads the ASC in wins and is second in fewest runs allowed (10) and opponent batting average (.177).    

Nationally, Sherman is tied for the second most victories in the NCAA and is ranked in the top 20 in strikeouts, ERA, and hits allowed.

UT Tyler will host Mississippi College in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
