DALLAS, Texas - The Penn State Altoona baseball team has received two votes in the Preseason 2012 Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division III Top 25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Lions finished the 2011 season with a 29-13 overall record, winning an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship and subsequently appearing in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Tournament. The team's dramatic upset of #15 ranked Adrian College in those regionals marked Penn State Altoona's first win in an NCAA Tournament game in school varsity athletics history.

Penn State Altoona baseball began to garner regional attention when it received 10 votes in the final regular season edition of the top 25 poll, which was released last May 17.

The poll voters come from 25 college baseball writers, sports information directors, and related media persons from throughout the nation.

The Lions open their 2012 schedule on Saturday, February 25 at Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
