PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball will play for the Empire 8 Conference championship tomorrow morning after the Bombers defeated Stevens Institute of Technology, 4-1, on Friday afternoon at St. John Fisher College's Dugan Yard. Ithaca, which is now 27-11 on the season, will meet up against the winner of Stevens and St. John Fisher on Saturday for the conference title. The Bombers need to win one game to earn the Empire 8's first-ever automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.

Ithaca took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning as the Bombers took advantage of two Stevens errors. After the first two outs of the inning were retired, sophomore Webb Little reached on an error and then senior Trevor Thompson followed with a double. W. Little would score on a throwing error during the play to put the Bombers on top.

Stevens answered in the bottom half of the third with a sacrifice fly. A lead-off walk came all the way around after a stolen base and wild pitch set up the sac fly.

The Bombers regain the lead in the fourth on a sac fly by sophomore Adam Gallagher with classmate Andrew Bailey on third base. Bailey reached on a strikeout and moved up two bases on a failed pick-off attempt.

In the top of the fifth, sophomore Sam Little belted a two-run home run to right field to extend Ithaca's lead to 4-1, for the eventual final score. W. Little was on base after reaching on an error.

Sophomore Jake Binder tossed his third complete game of the season to improve to 8-1 on the season. Binder scattered six hits, walked just one and struck out a pair.

Thompson went 2-for-4 in the game with two doubles, while W. Little scored twice. Five other Bombers recorded a hit in the win.

The title game is slated for 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. If the Bombers lose, a winner-take-all matchup will place 30 minutes later.
