Stevens Institute of Technology baseball's Danny Poidomani was named Second Team All-Coastal Plain League Tuesday. The junior pitcher was the only Division III student-athlete recognized by one of the premier summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country.

"This is great recognition for Danny as he tested himself this summer against some of the best competition in the country," head coach Kristaps Aldins said. "He continues to push forward with his development and the most exciting aspect of all is that he is hungry to take on even greater challenges this upcoming year. Seeing Danny and Stevens Institute of Technology listed alongside student-athletes from top Division One programs is a really cool sight to see and a testament to the hard work that Danny has put in honing his craft."

Playing with the Forest City Owls, the left-hander went a perfect 5-0 in nine starts. Poidomani struck out 51 batters in 41 2-3 innings after setting the Stevens' single-season mark for strikeouts (91) in the spring.

The Coastal Plain League has had over 1,400 alumni drafted and 108 of those – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut; while another notable alumnus – Russell Wilson – won Super Bowl XLVIII.
