Ithaca Ranked No. 21 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Poll

ITHACA, N.Y. – According to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Top 40 Poll, which was released on December 20, the Ithaca College baseball program will begin its 2018 season as the No. 21 team in the country.

Ithaca went 30-13 last spring and finished third in the NCAA Division III New York Regional Tournament in Syracuse. The Bombers earned the Empire 8 Conference's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Championship after defeating St. John Fisher College, 10-6, in the conference final.

The Bombers return a majority of their starting lineup from a season ago that hit .311 with 98 doubles, 25 home runs, 24 triples and 331 runs scored in 43 games played.

Ithaca opens its season on February 24 against Brockport and Virginia Wesleyan in Norfolk, Va. The following morning, the Bombers conclude their trip with a contest against Alfred State. IC will then head to Long Island for three games against St. Joseph's on March 3-4 before traveling out to California for seven games as part of its annual Spring Break trip.

While in the Golden State, the Bombers will take on the defending national champions, No. 2 Cal Lutheran, as well as No. 32 Chapman.

Once Ithaca returns to New York, the Bombers will face four other preseason nationally ranked teams over the final 27 regular season contests – No. 1 Cortland, No. 15 Oswego, No. 25 St. John Fisher and No. 40 RIT.
