April 18, 2018 No. 9 CNU Baseball Drops Southern Virginia in Capital Athletic Conference Action, 8-2 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- In a swift conference battle at Captains Park on Wednesday afternoon, the ninth-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team improved to 28-6, 12-2 with an 8-2 win over Southern Virginia University. The Captains smacked five extra-base hits, including the ninth home run of the season for Seth Woodard.
April 12, 2018 No. 24 Salisbury Snaps No. 5 CNU Baseball's 18-Game Win Streak; Captains Fall, 17-7, On the Road SALISBURY, Md. -- The second-longest winning streak in CNU Baseball history came to an end on Thursday afternoon as the 24th-ranked Salisbury Sea Gulls (21-7, 9-2) handed the Captains (26-5, 10-1) their first conference loss of the season, 17-7. Christopher Newport suffered it's first loss since February after an 18-game roll, ranking as the longest in Division III this season. 
April 10, 2018 Rookie Josh Husby Leads CNU to Fifth Shutout of the Year; No. 5 Captains Drop Mary Washington, 5-0 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Rookie Josh Husby tossed seven shutout innings with a career-high nine strikeouts against the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday afternoon, helping No. 5 Christopher Newport baseball blank the Eagles, 5-0. Husby improves to 3-0 after combining with a pair of relievers for the fifth shutout of the season for the Captains. 
April 8, 2018 Anderson's Pinch Hit Walk-Off Single Highlights CNU Baseball Sweep Over Marymount Sunday NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- After sophomore Thomas Packert whirled a game one gem that was certain to be the highlight of nationally-ranked CNU Baseball's day, junior pinch-hitter John Anderson made sure to add the offense to the highlight reel with a walk-off RBI single in game two as the Captains swept Marymount University in Capital Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon, 7-2 and 13-12. Anderson's dramatic winner pushed CNU's win streak to 17 games as the Captains improved to 25-4 overall and 9-0 in league play.  The win streak is the longest win streak in Division III this season and the second longest active streak in the nation across all three NCAA divisions. Only Illinois-Springfield, a Division II program, has more consecutive victories with 19. With the losses, Marymount slips to 12-13, 4-5 this season. 
April 4, 2018 No. 5/7 CNU Baseball Rolls to 15th Straight Win After 14-7 Victory at Southern Virginia BUENA VISTA, Va. -- After wrapping up the month of March with a pristine 14-0 record, the Captains opened play in April with another win, dropping Southern Virginia University (10-12, 2-5) in Capital Athletic Conference action, 14-7. Including Wednesday's win over the Knights, the nationally-ranked CNU baseball team has done the bulk of it's damage away from home, winning 12 games during it's current 15-game winning streak away from home.
March 31, 2018 Baham, Ginch & Woodard Each Blast Two Home Runs in Pair of Wins at York for No. 7 CNU Baseball YORK, Pa. -- Powered by an impressive bullpen effort and a power surge from the heart of the Captains order, the nationally-ranked CNU baseball team ran it's win streak to 14 with a pair of Capital Athletic Conference wins at York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon. Reliever Brian Owens (3-0) won both games out of the pen after Brandon Ginch, Nicholas Baham, and Seth Woodard each blasted a pair of home runs in the twin bill. CNU won, 13-8, in game one and 8-6, in game two.
