( | The New Jersey City University baseball is now playoff eligible and honored its seven-man senior class with a convincing victory. NJCU scored three runs in the first and third innings and tacked on four more in the fourth while pounding out 20 hits, on the way to a 12-2 victory over regionally-ranked New York University on May 3 at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex.

( | The Gothic Knights have become the Walkoff Knights and this time it was freshman Steven Ramos (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) (Perth Amboy, N.J./Perth Amboy)'s turn to be the hero. The New Jersey City University baseball team had just three hits in the first six innings and was losing 4-0, but scored twice in the seventh and eighth innings to tie it. Then, after a one-out double by senior second baseman Jeff Reinecke (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex), Ramos made a plate appearance for the first time since April 11 and deposited a long walkoff single to deep center with two outs in the bottom of the ninth that No. 29 Rowan University could not catch as NJCU stunned the Profs, 5-4, in the opener of a New Jersey Athletic Conference home-and-home series on April 27 at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex.

( | The New Jersey City University baseball team added two more impressive road wins to its ever-growing 2017 resume. Freshman left fielder Bill Feehan (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) smashed his first career home run and walked five times and junior first baseman Dan Berardi (Bridgewater, NJ/Middlesex) (Bridgewater, N.J./Middlesex) homered in game two while closing within one hit of 100 as the Gothic Knights swept Skyline Conference wins leader St. Joseph's College (LI), 8-3 and 6-3, in a Wednesday night non-conference doubleheader on April 26.
April 23, 2017 NJCU Baseball Beats #11/13 TCNJ for First Time in 20 Years in NJAC Split EWING, N.J. ( | The New Jersey City University baseball team knocked off its second ranked New Jersey Athletic Conference opponent on the road this season and for the Gothic Knights, it vanquished a losing streak against the one opponent it has struggled with for 20 years. NJCU scored four runs in the second inning, added a pair of late insurance runs and received nearly five innings of incredible relief from sophomore right-handed pitcher Jose Ortiz (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) (Perth Amboy, N.J./Perth Amboy) as the Gothic Knights defeated No. 11/13 ranked The College of New Jersey, 6-4, in game two of an NJAC doubleheader at George Ackerman Park. TCNJ won game one, 7-0.
