May 15, 2016 Baseball Edged by MIT 9-8 in ECAC New England Championship Game Cambridge, MA --- Top-seeded MIT used an eight-run seventh inning to rally from a 3-0 deficit and then held off a furious WPI rally to defeat the second-seeded Engineers 9-8 in the ECAC Division III New England Baseball Championship game. MIT moves to 23-14 on the season and claimed their first ECAC championship since 2013. WPI, which had won the ECAC title in 2007 and 2009, completes its season with a 27-13 record, the second most victories in the 113 year history of Crimson and Gray baseball.
May 13, 2016 Venditti Has Grand Time as Baseball Knocks off Elms to Reach ECAC Finals Northboro, MA – Second-seeded WPI struck for seven runs in the opening two innings, highlighted by an Alex Venditti grand slam, as the Engineers defeated sixth-seeded Elms 10-2 in an ECAC New England Division III semifinal Friday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.
May 1, 2016 WPI Upended by Wheaton in NEWMAC Semifinals WORCESTER – Sophomore pitcher Dan Southerland (Dartmouth, MA) struck out five in an eight-inning appearance while junior Joey Santigate (Staten Island, NY) batted 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a pair of runs scored as third-seeded Wheaton claimed the NEWMAC Baseball Championship best-of-three semifinal series with a 7-2 game three victory over second-seeded WPI Sunday afternoon at Clark’s Granger Field.
April 30, 2016 Venditti and Vaitkunas Help WPI Split First Two Games vs. Wheaton in NEWMAC Tournament Semifinals WORCESTER -- WPI baseball got some late-inning heroics from senior first baseman Alex Venditti to beat Wheaton, 4-2, in the first game of a best-of-three NEWMAC Tournament semifinal series on Saturday at Clark. However, the second-seeded Engineers couldn’t pull off a sweep of the No. 3 seed Lyons, falling by a 7-4 score in an 11-inning thriller in the second game to force a decisive game three back at Granger Turf Field at 11am on Sunday. The contest was shifted two hours earlier than originally scheduled due to forecasted rain.

April 27, 2016 WPI Falls to No. 25 Amherst in Regular Season Finale Northboro, MA --- Amherst’s Anthony Spina (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Yanni Thanopoulos (Highland, CA) each batted 3-for-5 and combined for five RBI and four runs scored in a 15-6 win over host WPI in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday at the New England Baseball Complex.
