Oxy Named a Top D3 Baseball Destination

More news about: Occidental

LOS ANGELES — Occidental is a top destination for NCAA Division III baseball, according to collegefactual.com.

With a mixture of outstanding academics and a very competitive program on the field, Oxy is ranked No. 51, putting it in the top 15 percent of programs in the country.

"This ranking of the best schools for student-athletes takes into account both the athletic competitiveness of the specific team and the academic progress of the student-athletes on the team," Oxy head coach Luke Wetmore said. "We're proud of our inclusion on the list and look forward to maintaining a high standard on the field and in the classroom."

Oxy has finished .500 or better overall and in SCIAC play in five of the last seven seasons, including 2015-16 when it won its first SCIAC Championship since 1982.

The Tigers open the season against a pair of Northwest Conference schools at home this weekend. Oxy faces Puget Sound in a doubleheader at home on Saturday and Willamette for a single on Sunday.
