ITHACA, N.Y. – Two days after being selected to the Team of the Week and Empire 8 Conference Pitcher of the Week, senior Jake Binder of the Ithaca College baseball team earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division III Pitcher of the Week.

Binder is the first Bomber to be recognized by the NCBWA since at least 2008, when Shane Wolf was named Regional Player of the Year.

On Sunday afternoon in Thousand Oaks, Calif., Binder nearly no-hit the No. 18 team in the nation, California Lutheran, during a 2-0 victory for IC. Binder took his no-hit bid into the ninth inning, and after recording the first out, surrendered a single, but still finished off the contest with a one-hit shutout.

The Syracuse, N.Y. native was also perfect through seven innings before issuing a walk and tossed the complete game in 100 pitches.

The gem marks the third nine-inning complete game thrown for Binder over the past three seasons. Over those three contests, he has allowed just one run and 10 hits with 16 strikeouts.
