Clark started a rally with an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th after a 12-pitch at-bat and then delivered the game-winning single in the final inning.

The Captains (32-9) belted seven home runs between the two games but will need to win twice on Saturday to keep their conference championship hopes alive.

    ASHLAND, Va. -- In one of the marquee matchups of the entire Division III baseball season, a top-five billing awaited Tuesday's battle as nationally-ranked Christopher Newport traveled to Randolph-Macon for the regular season finale. The ABCA announced prior to Tuesday's first pitch that the Yellow Jackets were the top team in the nation, with CNU moving into the Top 5. In a game that had a postseason feel, the home team edged out the Captains, 6-3, as CNU dropped to 31-8 overall this season.

The Captains dominated game one, 22-2, before a walk-off extra-inning win in game two, 4-3, to tie Salisbury for the best record in the league this season.

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- For a brief period on Saturday afternoon, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team was back atop the league standings alone, but a doubleheader split at Penn State Harrisburg (26-8, 12-4) tightened things back up in the Capital Athletic Conference playoff race. The Captains won game one over the Lions, 13-2, while setting a new program record with 17 walks in a game, before suffering a one-run loss in game two, 6-5.

    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- In a swift conference battle at Captains Park on Wednesday afternoon, the ninth-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team improved to 28-6, 12-2 with an 8-2 win over Southern Virginia University. The Captains smacked five extra-base hits, including the ninth home run of the season for Seth Woodard.
