ITHACA, N.Y. – On Wednesday evening, June 19, the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods released their annual Gold Glove winners and Jake Binder of the Ithaca College baseball program was selected as the lone pitcher in NCAA Division III to earn this prestigious honor.
Ithaca legendary Hall of Fame coach and alumnus, George Valesente has announced his retirement after 41 seasons. Valesente has been the head coach at his alma mater since 1979 and departs South Hill with a career record of 1,136-507-8 at the helm of the Bombers program.

Valesente has been the head coach at his alma mater since 1979 and departs South Hill with a career record of 1,136-507-8 at the helm of the Bombers program. He maintained the tradition of excellence in what is Ithaca College baseball for four-plus decades and guided IC to 38 seasons with 20 or more victories. With a 31-9 campaign in 2019, Ithaca continued the nation’s longest streak of consecutive winning seasons (in all divisions) to 81 years.
ITHACA, N.Y. – On Tuesday, June 4, the College Sports Information Directors of Academic released its Google Cloud Academic All-Americans for the 2019 baseball season and Ithaca College senior outfielder Matt Carey was selected to the third-team. Carey becomes the first IC baseball player to achieve this distinguished honor since 2010-11 (David Ahonen) and is the seventh player in program history to be selected as an Academic All-American. He is also the 97th student-athlete since 1969-70 to be named Academic All-American.
UNION, N.J. – The nationally ranked No. 21/19 Ithaca College baseball team had its 12-game winning streak come to an end in the opening game of the NCAA Division III Union, N.J. Regional as Westfield State University topped the Bombers, 4-2, on Friday afternoon at Kean University’s Jim Hynes Stadium. Ithaca is now 31-8 on the season and will have to play through the elimination bracket for the remainder of the regional to keep its season alive.
ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 21/19 Ithaca College baseball team will head down to Union, N.J. later this week to take on Westfield State at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 17 for the opening game of the NCAA Division III Regional at Kean University’s Jim Hynes Baseball Stadium. Ithaca will be the top seed of the regional, while Westfield State is the four seed. Host Kean is the two seed and will play third-seeded Shenandoah University at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team extended its winning streak to eight straight games with a 9-3 non-conference victory over St. Lawrence University on Tuesday evening at Ononodaga Community College. Ithaca, now 27-7 on the season, scored all nine of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. St. Lawrence is 7-26 on the year.
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team continued its winning ways on Sunday afternoon against Alfred State with a 12-3 victory at Freeman Field. Ithaca, which is now 26-7 and winners of seven straight, recorded 16 hits in the contest with seven going for extra bases. Alfred State drops to 17-18 on the season.
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Ithaca College baseball program improved to 25-7 on the season after a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Susquehanna University, 7-1 and 18-13, at Bollinger Field on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers’ bat exploded in the twin bill for 33 hits, including 10 for extra bases. Susquehanna is now 17-14 overall.
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team traveled to Oswego State on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a 3-1 non-conference victory to improve to 23-7 on the season, while Oswego falls to 22-12. The Bombers have now won four straight games and 11 of their last 13.
UW-Stout swept UW-Oshkosh for the first time in five years on Saturday as they fight for the final WIAC tournament spot. Out east it was Ithaca wrapping up the regular season Empire 8 title and will host the end of the season tournament.
